Red Clover Herb (Trifolium pratense)
Red clover is a familiar sight in meadows, parks, and fields, blooming in late spring with its vibrant pink, densely clustered flowers. A short-lived perennial in the pea family (Fabaceae), Trifolium pratense features three-lobed leaves and thrives in a variety of temperate climates. The aerial parts of the plant are commonly used in herbal preparations, making it ideal for tinctures and red clover tea.
Throughout history, red clover has been steeped in folklore and symbolism. The Druids believed it could ward off evil spirits and witches, while in Medieval Christianity, the three-lobed leaves were associated with the Holy Trinity, and the rare four-lobed leaves were considered a symbol of the cross.
